As a United Nations Observer, and a passionate Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) advocate who started promoting, advancing, and advocating the SDG since 2016 after the adoption of the Paris Climate Agreement, I, the founder of EMERALDS 12-9, embarked on developing a sustainable development action initiative to address some of the pressing problems the world faced.
I created different initiatives many times to advance my sustainable solutions to bring awareness and also contribute to the impacts of the climate disaster-related crisis, utilizing student loans and personal funding to get this project off the ground. It has been very challenging, and I would often stop and the project would have to be put on hold because of a lack of funding, while I was also networking with major international organizations like the World Bank, United Nations, and some government entities to seek funding, but there's been no luck. However, it still didn't stop me; I only often changed strategies, addressing some of the problems that affect humanity today in new forms.
Eventually, I developed the project last year, on April 4, 2022, but it was still in the developmental stages. Most importantly, late last year I lost my job immediately after I got hurt at work and was eventually diagnosed with 'Sciatica' in my lower right back and right leg. Not to imagine, as a single parent with no medical insurance, losing everything I have, including having to deal with financial responsibilities. I had to think smart, to think in the future. So, I used my pain to develop this initiative, imagining my life as having a similar purpose to that for which the UN SDG was created, to address some of the effects of climate-related disasters that negatively impact people and families, including addressing inequalities. Ensuring responsible production and consumption-based solutions is very effective in eliminating poverty!
We can all contribute differently - By embarking on and investing in this sustainable business initiative, we can address some of the problems that affect people, and the planet and also form partnerships to achieve a sustainable future.
